Dental Implants in Burr Ridge, IL

Dental implants in burr ridge il - tooth implantDental implants are a great replacement option for missing teeth. Implants are ideal for replacing one or many teeth. If you’re missing multiple teeth, dental implants can be combined with bridges and dentures to create an effective and affordable long term tooth replacement strategy. Not only do implants look and feel like real teeth, but when maintained and cared for properly, they can last a lifetime.

Not everyone is a great candidate for implants, but our dentists are here to help guide you through the process and choose the tooth replacement option that is best for your short and long term oral health. Below are some of the most common dental implant procedures that we provide.

Implant in a Day

At 1st Family Dental of Burr Ridge, we offer Implant in a Day services. This is similar to the standard implant procedure; however, it includes the placement of a temporary crown over the titanium post on the very same day that the post is placed. Crowns can take time to make in a traditional dental lab because you want it to look, feel, and fit like your real teeth. The Implant in a Day procedure allows the temporary crown to be replaced immediately so you can get back to your day-to-day activities. Then, when the final crown is ready, the patient can return for placement.

Find out if Implant in a Day is right for you. Book a free consultation with one of our Burr Ridge dentists today.

Implant Overdentures

Another great tooth replacement option we offer is called “implant overdentures”. This procedure is a reliable restoration option that uses some of the latest dental technology. Implant overdentures are typically used for patients who need a more stable prosthesis, like dentures, in order to help improve retention, speech, and function of the denture. Basically, a few implants help “anchor” your dentures to help reduce movement of dentures.

If you’re missing many teeth and are having issues with your dentures then implant overdentures may be a great solution for you. Contact us to get a free consultation with one of our dentists.

What’s Involved with the Placement of a Dental Implant?

At 1st Family Dental, we offer dental implants in-office as a treatment option for our patients. While this is a surgery, in most cases dental implants can be placed in a series of three steps:

1. Placement of the implant: We will place the titanium post surgically in the jaw bone. Then a healing cap is placed over the post to provide protection. In some cases, bone grafting is necessary prior to the implant being placed.

2. Healing and osseointegration: Implants receive their strength because the bone of your jaw grows around the titanium post, just like real teeth, anchoring the implant. This process is referred to as osseointegration and is a critical step in the entire implant process. In most cases, it  can take up to three months for the implant to fully heal.

3. Replacement of the tooth: While your mouth is healing, your dentist will have a custom crown, denture, or bridge created to fit over the implant(s).

If you think you could benefit from dental implants, call us today for a free dental implant consultation. We will provide you with an initial consultation to determine if this is the best option for you and your overall oral health.
